Confidence Music began serving students with music lessons. Because we know that all children enjoy music, the Confidence Music program has included hands-on music lessons as an incentive for students as well as, a reinforcement tool. Using this method of incorporating music allows students to be more creative and innovative in their thinking and actions . It gives them the opportunity to use what they have learned in music and apply those skills and habits to their academic studies.
Students will learn the fundamentals of music. This foundation is important because it increases their music knowledge and helps them to correctly practice tempo, time, speed, fluency, and sight reading just to name a few. These music fundamentals easily relate to reading components as stated by the NRP (National Reading Panel) and Math as stated by the NCTM (National Counsel of Teachers of Mathematics). Music has been shown to help students to learn easier, retain information faster, and practice what they have learned in a fun learning environment.
It has been scientifically proven to:
96 percent of public school principals believe that participating in music education encourages and motivates students to stay in school longer, according to a 2006 NAMM-MENC Harris Interactive study.
89 percent of principles believe that music education contributes to higher graduation rates, according to a
2006 Harris Interactive Poll.
Students in the arts are found to be more cooperative with teachers and peers, more self confident, and better
able to express ideas, according to a study by Columbia University.
Students in music scored 63 points higher on verbal and 44 points higher on math than students with no arts
participation, according to the College Entrance Examination Board,
